Gwangju Metropolitan City announced the Gwangju Green New Deal policy goal to realize an energy-independent city by 2045 in July.

Global companies such as Apple, Google, and BMW are already making efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by declaring RE100 that uses only renewable energy for their own electricity, and SK Group, a Korean company, joined RE100 for the first time in Korea to expand the domestic renewable energy market and energy industry.

It is predicted to be the basis for fostering future growth industries in Korea. Gwangju City is also pursuing a policy with the goal of realizing energy independence in phased RE100, enterprise RE100 by 2030, Gwangju RE100 by 2035, and energy independence in 2045.

The rate of renewable energy generation, which is currently around 7%, is set at 37% in 2035 and 2040. It is expected to increase to 75% by year and to 100% by 2045.

Incell, established in 2004, is a representative ESS and lithium battery small and medium-sized company in Gwangju.
Incell is focusing on entering the overseas ESS market as a countermeasure against the market contraction caused by domestic ESS accidents.

In particular, the US new and renewable energy market is focusing on finding new buyers to enter the US market as the existing power system is aging and the transmission and distribution network investment burden is low due to the large land area.
In order to successfully enter the overseas market, UL certification and other standard certifications (CE, IEC) are being acquired, and the acquisition is expected to be completed within the first quarter of next year.
Incell will complete and relocate a new plant to Energy Valley, an urban high-tech industrial complex in Nam-gu, Gwangju in January next year. Taking this opportunity, it is planning to introduce a smart factory element and build a production line suitable for overseas markets.
Incell's ESS and lithium batteries incorporate BMS (Battery Management System) and battery packaging technology developed by Samsung SDI based on small cells. In-cell lithium battery manufactured in this way has features of high safety, energy density, high efficiency, and long life. Since it is manufactured as a small cell, maintenance is easy, and capacity expansion from kWh to MWh is easy, so it can be applied to various industries.
The main business areas are ESS and lithium batteries, and the fields of application are: ▲ESS is PV ESS, demand control ESS, frequency adjustment ESS, emergency generator replacement ESS, home ESS, building and commercial ESS, etc. ▲Communication lithium battery is UPS, backup System, etc. ▲ Lithium batteries for mobility are AGVs, electric forklifts, EVs, electric ships, medical devices, and robots.
